This Sunday, November 1, the Teton Park Road closes to cars between Taggart Lake Trailhead and Signal Mountain Lodge. Until snow covers it, the road belongs to bikes, runners, rollerbladers and dogs. In town, a run of restaurant closures that started in mid-October keeps building through the first half of November and bottoms out a week after the road change. The reopenings don't fully catch up until December.
The four weeks between now and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort's November 27 opening day follow a fixed sequence. The park opens to people under their own power at the same time the town's dining rooms go dark, and the dates for both are already set. Each week from here to Thanksgiving looks different from the one before it.
Sunday's Road Change, in the Park Service's Own Words
The National Park Service's park roads page lays out the rules plainly. The Teton Park Road "is open to biking from November 1 until it is snow covered," and "you can hike, run, rollerblade, or walk your dog too." Once snow covers the road, bikes, snow bikes, fat-tire bikes and rollerblades are no longer allowed, and leashed pets move to the multi-use lane. The road is groomed for skiing, snowshoeing and hiking from mid-December to mid-March.
That leaves an open-ended window. The Grand Teton National Park Foundation's fall closure post confirms the 2026 vehicle closure starts November 1 and says the road stays open to bicyclists, pedestrians and leashed dogs "until snow conditions allow grooming to begin, typically in mid-December." Weather sets the end date, so the bike and rollerblade season on the road could last six weeks or a few days.
The south end has its own catch this year. In an August 20, 2026 release, the Park Service said the Taggart Lake Trailhead and parking lot stay open during a multi-year reconstruction. The northern portion of the Taggart Lake Trail is closed, though, so the lake can only be reached by the southern route, which is about 4.25 miles round trip and longer and steeper. Cottonwood Creek picnic area closed for construction in mid-August.
The Moose-Wilson Road runs two weeks behind. Its segment between Moose and the Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve has been closed to motor vehicles and bicycles since the end of the day on September 7 for construction, and the closure runs through November 15. According to the Foundation, normal winter operations come back this year, with winter recreation access between Moose and Death Canyon Junction starting November 15, 2026. Death Canyon Road and Death Canyon Trailhead stay closed for construction through the 2026 season.
The Kitchens Close in Waves
The restaurants go dark on a rolling schedule. Dishing Jackson Hole's September 28, 2026 off-season roundup gives the dates, and lined up together they show where the thin stretch falls.
| Business | Closed | Back |
|---|---|---|
| Spur Restaurant & Bar | Oct. 19 at 11:30 a.m. | Dec. 9 at 5:30 p.m., dinner |
| Lula Wine Bar & Bistro | Oct. 19 to Nov. 10 | After Nov. 10 |
| Mangy Moose | After Oct. 25 service | Nov. 27 |
| The Restaurant at White Buffalo Club | Oct. 25 to Nov. 25 | Weekends from Nov. 26, daily Dec. 18 |
| Roosevelts | Oct. 27 to Dec. 4 | After Dec. 4 |
| Jackson Drug | Nov. 1 to 19 | Nov. 20 |
| Coe Tavern | After Nov. 8 service | Dec. 6 |
| Million Dollar Cowboy Bar and Steakhouse | Nov. 8 to 18 | Nov. 19 |
| Nora's Fish Creek Inn, dinner only | Nov. 9 to 30 | Dec. 1, tentative |
| Figgie's | Nov. 26 to Dec. 2 | Dec. 3 |
From the table, November 9 and 10 are the low point, when every dinner closure on the list overlaps. Lula is the first back after that. The middle of the month brings a cluster of returns: the Cowboy Bar on November 19 and Jackson Drug on November 20. Figgie's runs on its own schedule. It stays open through the quiet weeks and closes for the week of Thanksgiving, just as the other kitchens come back.
A few listings have no return date. Shin Shin hasn't announced a reopening, but winter reservations open online November 1. The Rooftop at The Cloudveil is closed until spring 2027. The Jackson Hole Winery tasting room is open for now and hasn't set a closure date. Off the dining list, the Jackson Hole History Museum closes November 10 to 30 and reopens December 1. Dishing warns that businesses can change hours without telling it, so a quick call before heading out is worth it.
The Deals Sit on Either Side of the Closures
The specials in Dishing's roundup line up with the closure dates. Some run just before a kitchen closes, and some come back the day it reopens.
- Coe Tavern runs a 2-for-1 special for its last two or three weeks before closing November 8.
- Jackson Drug has a $15 Classic Burger & Beer special nightly from 4 to 6 p.m.: a Classic Cowboy Smashburger, fries or tots, and a domestic beer, glass of wine or soda. It stops during the November 1 to 19 closure, returns November 20 and runs through the winter. Kids Eat Free Wednesdays also come back for winter.
- Nora's Fish Creek Inn keeps serving breakfast through its November dinner break, with an early bird breakfast special and a nightly "happy hour and a half" at the bar through the fall.
- Lula Wine Bar & Bistro has a Thursday Locals Night on Dishing's specials list: 20% off food and drinks from 5 to 9 p.m. with a local ID, dine-in only. Lula is closed through November 10, so the first Thursday it could run is November 12. Check with Lula before you go.
- The Jackson Hole Elks Lodge stays open all off-season. Its fall lineup includes Elktoberfest, a Halloween fundraiser, Funksgiving with live music, and a community Thanksgiving dinner.
The best November deals are outdoors, and they line up with the park opening back up. Teton Science Schools Wildlife Expeditions is offering 2-for-1 seats on Sunset Wildlife Tours, and Wyoming Stargazing is doing the same for group tours. Both apply to dates from November 1 to 30 with promo code 2for1.
Halloween Weekend, Then the Road Opens
The last weekend of October runs straight into the road change.
- Friday, October 30. The Chamber's Haunting of JH brings trick-or-treating, a Trunk or Treat, and a costume contest to Town Square. That night, the Wyoming Artists Showcase at the Center for the Arts features church bats and other regional artists. It's presented with Jackson Hole Community Radio, KHOL, and Dishing lists tickets at $25.
- Saturday, October 31. The Jackson Hole Community Band plays its Halloween Concert at the Center. The Halloween Costume Crawl connects the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar and the Silver Dollar Bar with one $10 wristband. The band 86 plays the Cowboy Bar, Outta Shorts plays the Silver Dollar, and there are drink specials and costume prizes. The Wort Hotel's event page lists two different end times, so check it before you go.
- Sunday, November 1. The Teton Park Road closes to cars in the morning, and that evening the Center screens KIN, a ski film showcase.
October is also the last month Snow King's summer side runs daily. The Coaster, scenic gondola, Observatory & Planetarium, and mini-golf are open every day this month, and a $10 Observatory add-on with a Scenic Gondola ticket saves $25 per person, according to Snow King Mountain.
The Quiet Weeks Have Their Own Calendar
The first full week of November is the busiest stretch of the off-season. The Liquor Store of Jackson Hole's Local Love Sale runs all week, Monday, November 2 through Friday, November 6. The listing calls it the first time the twice-yearly sale has lasted a full week. It's up to 40% off wine, beer and spirits, in-store only, at The Liquor Store & Wine Loft and Jackson Hole Marketplace, with doors open at 9 a.m. A free giveaway drawn November 6 awards a $250 gift card to The Liquor Store & Wine Loft and a $150 gift card to Jackson Hole Marketplace. Entrants must be 21 or older.
That weekend, November 6 to 8, the Center hosts Frank's Fall Film Festival 2026, now in its third year. It honors Frank Londy with seven films curated by the people closest to him. A full festival pass is $63, and individual tickets fall within the listed range of $13 to $63. The titles hadn't been announced at last check.
The Brainstorm Speaker Series with Jad Abumrad on November 15 is free, according to Dishing. It's the same day the Moose-Wilson corridor switches to winter recreation access.
The Ladder Back to Opening Day
From mid-November on, the reopenings come close together:
- November 11: Lula's closure ends.
- November 15: Moose-Wilson winter recreation access begins between Moose and Death Canyon Junction, conditions permitting.
- November 19: Million Dollar Cowboy Bar and Steakhouse reopen.
- November 20: Jackson Drug reopens with its $15 special, and Grand Targhee Resort opens for the 2026-27 winter season.
- November 26: The Restaurant at White Buffalo Club returns for weekends, and Figgie's starts its Thanksgiving-week break.
- November 27: Jackson Hole Mountain Resort opens, and Mangy Moose reopens the same day.
On the Teton Park Road, the bikes and rollerblades come off whenever the snow arrives, and grooming for skiing usually starts by mid-December.
